The Crane Travels is a photo project I am beginning based off of my recent installation, If Only…. In this installation, hundreds of paper cranes are arranged before a projection on the wall, in which a few of the cranes are sitting on the dashboard of a traveling vehicle. The cranes are folded from maps from all over the world, giving them an eagerness to travel! Although created from images of locations covering the globe, these stationary, lifeless birds are only able to experience new scenery through a vehicle windshield.
At the Louisiana Tech School of Art BFA Studio Exhibition 2012, I presented If Only… and sold cranes individually. With this project, I am hoping to receive feedback from my audience via photo. If you purchased a crane at this exhibition, perhaps you could take your crane with you while you travel, and document your crane on your dashboard! If so, you may upload it to an email through the contact form below and I will post it on this Crane Travels page!
I am currently working out some kinks with the uploading of photos. As of now, iPhone size/quality photos are uploading fine (up to 2.5MB). Thank you for your participation!
